Results from the second round of the Libyan Premier League’s final-six stage handed the top spots in both groups to Al-Sweihli and Al-Nasr after wins over Al-Olymbi and Al-Hilal.
Al-Nasr came from two goals down against Al-Hilal to secure a dramatic 3-2 win in stoppage time through a penalty scored by Tunisian midfielder Saed Bakir, moving to four points at the top of Group 2. The result was helped by Al-Ahly Benghazi’s 2-1 defeat to Al-Akhdar in Al-Marj, thanks to a late goal from the Sudanese winger, leaving both Al-Nasr and Al-Akhdar level at the top. Meanwhile, striker Hamza Al-Derai led Al-Ittihad Al-Askari to its first win after defeating Al-Afriqi 1-0.
Al-Sweihli maintained its lead in Group 1 after beating Al-Olymbi 3-1 at Al-Jamil Stadium to reach six points, two ahead of Tripoli rivals Al-Ittihad and Al-Ahly Tripoli. Al-Ittihad defeated neighbors Al-Madina 2-1 in Misrata, while Al-Ahly Tripoli secured a 1-0 win over Al-Ittihad Al-Misrati through captain Hamdou Elhouni, leaving both teams on four points.
The Libyan Football Federation’s competitions committee also announced the schedule and venues for the third round matches. Group 1 will feature Al-Sweihli against Al-Ittihad in Tarhouna, Al-Ahly Tripoli versus Al-Madina in Al-Khoms, and Al-Ittihad Al-Misrati against Al-Olymbi in Tripoli Stadium. In Group 2, Al-Nasr will face Al-Afriqi in Tobruk, Al-Ahly Benghazi will play Al-Hilal in Al-Marj, while Al-Ittihad Al-Askari will take on Al-Akhdar in Derna.
