Taijuan Walker released by Phillies

Walker, 33, is in the final season of a four-year, $72 million deal he signed with the Phillies in December 2022. He went 1-4 with a 9.13 ERA in five games (four starts) for the Phillies this year, allowing a Major League-high 23 earned runs. Walker finishes his Philly tenure with a 24-25 record, a 5.12 ERA and a 1.47 WHIP over 89 appearances.

Right-hander Nolan Hoffman was recalled from Triple-A Lehigh Valley and right-hander Alan Rangel was optioned to Triple-A in additional moves.
