The North Carolina Tar Heels baseball team plays the East Carolina Pirates on Saturday, May 30 (5 p.m., ACC Network), in the Chapel Hill Regional of the 2026 NCAA Tournament at Boshamer Stadium.
The No. 5 overall seed in the bracket, the Tar Heels (46-11-1) are playing 3-seed ECU (37-22-1) for a spot in the regional final on Sunday, May 31. The in-state rivals haven’t met in the NCAA Tournament since 2012, but UNC has won seven of the eight meetings in the postseason.
The Pirates are aiming for their first win against the Heels in the tournament for the first time since 1982. UNC opened with an 8-0 win against VCU and ECU started its postseason run with a 7-3 victory against Tennessee in 14 innings.

According to the National Weather Service, sunny skies and a temperature high of 84 are in the forecast for the opening day of the Chapel Hill Regional on Friday, May 29. There’s a slight chance of showers before 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 30, with precipitation chances at 20%. Sunday, May 31, will bring the return of sunshine and a high of 77.
The Chapel Hill Regional is paired with the College Station Regional for a super regional matchup; the College Station Regional features Texas A&M and Southern Cal as the top two seeds.
