Alycia Parks showed her sense of humor after her first-round win at the Stuttgart tournament against Noma Noha Akugue (6-4, 6-2).

Powerful on serve and often noted for her explosive shots, the American could aim for a symbolic record: the tournament’s fastest serve. But her priorities lie elsewhere… and they’re rather luxurious.

“My Goal Is the Porsche”

Asked after her victory, Parks responded lightly:

Journalist: “So you don’t necessarily want to become the holder of the fastest serve record in Stuttgart?”

Parks: “I mean… that’s not really my goal. My goal is to leave with the Porsche…”

Journalist: “So you like speed. I’m talking about the Porsche. Do you like driving fast? In the U.S., it’s pretty slow, right? About 90 km/h?”

Parks: “You know, I respect the speed limits.”

Journalist: “And what’s your limit?”

Parks: “110 km/h! (laughs)”

A Tough Second Round

A relaxed exchange that reflects Parks’ personality well, as well as one of the unique stakes of the Stuttgart tournament, where the winner traditionally drives away in a Porsche.

While waiting to possibly win the coveted prize, the world No. 95 will face Mirra Andreeva for an explosive second round.
