{"id":103890,"date":"2026-04-11T06:12:01","date_gmt":"2026-04-11T09:12:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ubirataonline.com.br\/culvers-owner-posts-viral-message-on-teen-takeover-parents-respond-nbc-chicago\/"},"modified":"2026-04-11T06:12:05","modified_gmt":"2026-04-11T09:12:05","slug":"culvers-owner-posts-viral-message-on-teen-takeover-parents-respond-nbc-chicago","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ubirataonline.com.br\/en\/culvers-owner-posts-viral-message-on-teen-takeover-parents-respond-nbc-chicago\/","title":{"rendered":"Culver\u2019s owner posts viral message on teen takeover; parents respond \u2013 NBC Chicago"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>After a group of teens caused chaos inside her restaurant, a south suburban business owner posted a viral video pleading with parents &#8211; and her message led to a surprising response from the very parents she was hoping to reach. <\/p>\n<p>Dawndria Murray, the owner of a Culver\u2019s in Matteson, said the behavior had been building for months, but recently reached a breaking point.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey\u2019re having food fights, they\u2019re tearing up the bathrooms\u2026 they\u2019re basically being disruptive,\u201d Murray said.<\/p>\n<p>But when she took to social to explain what was happening, her message resonated. <\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-nbc-section-heading\">What happened<\/h2>\n<p>Murray said large groups of teens, often arriving after school, would gather inside her restaurant along Cicero Avenue, creating disturbances for customers and staff.<\/p>\n<p>The issues included:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Food fights<\/li>\n<li>Teens walking on tables<\/li>\n<li>Vandalized bathrooms<\/li>\n<li>Loud, disruptive behavior<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u201cI made the post because I have been trying to get the kids to behave at my restaurant,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\">\n<div class=\"size-large\"><\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p>Frustrated, Murray posted surveillance video on social media \u2014 not to shame the teens, she said, but to reach their parents.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI just really wanted the parents to come together and help me with the kids,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Murray said the situation was especially difficult given her personal investment in the business.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI love my job. I put a lot of sweat and tears,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>She worked her way up from manager to become a franchise owner \u2014 and said she has long tried to support local teens.<\/p>\n<p>That included buying meals for kids who couldn\u2019t afford food, rewarding students with good grades, trying to connect them with tutors.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-embed-handler wp-block-embed-embed-handler\"\/>\n<p>The situation gained wider attention after businessman and philanthropist Early Walker shared Murray\u2019s story on social media.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is not an administration problem\u2026 this is a parent problem,\u201d Walker said. \u201cThere\u2019s nothing the city can do\u2026 The only person that can control these kids are the parents.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-nbc-section-heading\">Parents respond<\/h2>\n<p>Following the posts, Murray said something unexpected happened: parents began showing up.<\/p>\n<p>Some recognized their children in the videos and came to the restaurant to apologize \u2014 even offering to make amends.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI know that parents are coming together\u2026 to have my back,\u201d Murray said.<\/p>\n<p>They also began alerting other parents who had children involved in the incidents.<\/p>\n<p>Parents and Murray also began documenting the apologies on social media. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;[Murray] told me a father came up there with his son by the collar \u2014 old school. He said he saw his son in the video and wanted to personally apologize. He also made it clear she would never have an issue with his son again,&#8221; Walker wrote to his followers, saying, &#8220;this is what accountability looks like.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-nbc-section-heading\">Village officials step in<\/h2>\n<p>Local leaders said they are working to prevent further issues.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe made sure that we had connection with our schools\u2026 The parents are being proactive,\u201d said Mayor Sheila Chalmers-Currin.<\/p>\n<p>Officials said they are working with schools and families ahead of the summer months.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-nbc-section-heading\">What&#8217;s next<\/h2>\n<p>Walker is now organizing a show of support for the business.<\/p>\n<p>He\u2019s inviting the community to come out from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday to support the restaurant and its staff.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe want to make sure that we\u2019re showing her we\u2019re behind her \u2014 not just telling her,\u201d Walker said.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcchicago.com\/news\/local\/restaurant-owners-viral-message-on-teen-takeovers-gets-unexpected-response-from-parents\/3920631\/\">Source link <\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>After a group of teens caused chaos inside her restaurant, a south suburban business owner posted a viral video pleading with parents &#8211; and her message led to a surprising response from the very parents she was hoping to reach.
