Though plot specifics are still technically under wraps, \u201cTony\u201d is supposed to take place in 1976, when a young Bourdain had a life-changing experience working and living in Provincetown, Mass.<\/p>\n
Bourdain made his mark in the culinary world as an executive chef in Manhattan during the 1980s. His breakthrough came with the release of Kitchen Confidential: \u201cAdventures in the Culinary Underbelly,\u201d a bestselling memoir that propelled him to stardom.<\/p>\n
Known for his raw honesty and no-nonsense perspective on food and culture, Bourdain became a beloved figure through his Travel Channel series \u201cAnthony Bourdain: No Reservations,\u201d which aired for eight seasons. He died by suicide in 2018.<\/p>\n
Would Bourdain have approved of a Hollywood biopic about his life? Probably not. He wasn\u2019t the type to seek artifice out of the spotlight. In fact, this film feels like the kind of thing he would\u2019ve resisted most.<\/p>\n
Regardless, Johnson is talented, and maybe \u201cTony\u201d can turn out to be a good movie \u2014 much like \u201cBlackBerry\u201d and this year\u2019s \u201cNirvana the Band The Show The Movie.\u201d Expect lots of handheld camerawork and rapid zooms \u2014 his forte.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
