LOS ANGELES \u2014 As the Mets try to awaken offensively, Bo Bichette would like to see the lineup take a less conservative approach.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think sometimes as hitters we get too invested in having a great approach and not chasing and looking pretty as hitters,\u201d Bichette told The Post on Tuesday. \u201cAnd sometimes you have got to get a little dirty out there and sometimes look bad for the possibility of looking really good and take some chances.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Mets hadn\u2019t scored in 20 innings before a Francisco Lindor hit a leadoff homer in a 2-1 loss to the Dodgers<\/a> on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

Bichette, who went 1-for-4 in Tuesday\u2019s loss, was asked to further elaborate on players needing to \u201cget a little dirty\u201d during at-bats.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a mindset,\u201d he said. \u201cYou can either choose to go in there and try to be too smart and try to look good, or you can decide to get in there and compete. At the end of the day, it\u2019s a choice.\u201d<\/p>\n
