Both indexes posted fresh intraday and closing records. The <span class=\"QuoteInBody-quoteNameContainer\" data-test=\"QuoteInBody\" id=\"LiveStory-SpecialReport-QuoteInBody-5\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/.DJI\/\">Dow Jones Industrial Average<\/a><span class=\"QuoteInBody-inlineButton\"><span class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistContainer\" id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\" data-analytics-id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\"><button class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistButton\" aria-label=\"Add To Watchlist\" data-testid=\"dropdown-btn\"><span class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-addWatchListFromTag\"\/><\/button><\/span><\/span><\/span> jumped 868.71 points, or 1.79%, to end at 49,447.43. The small-cap index rose more than 2%.<\/p>\n<p>In a <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/araghchi\/status\/2045121573124759713?s=20\" target=\"_blank\">post on X<\/a> published Friday, Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi wrote, &#8220;In line with the ceasefire in Lebanon, the passage for all commercial vessels through Strait of Hormuz is declared completely open for the remaining period of ceasefire, on the coordinated route as already announced by Ports and Maritime Organisation of the Islamic Rep. of Iran.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>President <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/donald-trump\/\">Donald Trump<\/a> had said Thursday that the leaders of Israel and Lebanon agreed to a 10-day ceasefire, which went into effect at 5 p.m. ET that day.<\/p>\n<p>Oil prices plummeted following Iran&#8217;s announcement as supply disruption fears lessened. U.S. <span class=\"QuoteInBody-quoteNameContainer\" data-test=\"QuoteInBody\" id=\"LiveStory-SpecialReport-QuoteInBody-10\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/@CL.1\/\">West Texas Intermediate<\/a><span class=\"QuoteInBody-inlineButton\"><span class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistContainer\" id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\" data-analytics-id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\"><button class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistButton\" aria-label=\"Add To Watchlist\" data-testid=\"dropdown-btn\"><span class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-addWatchListFromTag\"\/><\/button><\/span><\/span><\/span> futures dropped almost 12% to settle at $83.85 a barrel, while international benchmark <span class=\"QuoteInBody-quoteNameContainer\" data-test=\"QuoteInBody\" id=\"LiveStory-SpecialReport-QuoteInBody-11\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/@LCO.1\/\">Brent<\/a><span class=\"QuoteInBody-inlineButton\"><span class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistContainer\" id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\" data-analytics-id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\"><button class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistButton\" aria-label=\"Add To Watchlist\" data-testid=\"dropdown-btn\"><span class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-addWatchListFromTag\"\/><\/button><\/span><\/span><\/span> crude futures declined 9% to settle at $90.38 a barrel.<\/p>\n<p>Trump, who thanked Iran for opening the strait in a <a href=\"https:\/\/truthsocial.com\/@realDonaldTrump\/116420194853200133\" target=\"_blank\">post on Truth Social<\/a> Friday, said in a <a href=\"https:\/\/truthsocial.com\/@realDonaldTrump\/116420562510387829\" target=\"_blank\">separate post<\/a> that the Middle Eastern country has agreed to never close the waterway again. He also said in a <a href=\"https:\/\/truthsocial.com\/@realDonaldTrump\/116420275523158052\" target=\"_blank\">post<\/a> that the U.S. Navy&#8217;s blockade of Iranian ports will &#8220;REMAIN IN FULL FORCE&#8221; until a peace agreement with Tehran has been reached, adding that &#8220;THIS PROCESS SHOULD GO VERY QUICKLY IN THAT MOST OF THE POINTS ARE ALREADY NEGOTIATED.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The strait&#8217;s reopening could be limited, however, as Iran&#8217;s Tasnim news agency reported that ships and cargos linked to hostile nations won&#8217;t be allowed to move through, for instance. The Tasnim report also said the strait will be closed if the U.S. blockade persists.<\/p>\n<p>It is still uncertain whether ships will be forced to pay a toll to traverse the waterway.<\/p>\n<p>Stocks in key industries vulnerable to the strait&#8217;s effective closure, such as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2026\/04\/15\/iran-conflict-oil-prices-cruise-lines.html\">cruise lines<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2026\/04\/14\/jet-fuel-shortage-middle-east-crisis-flight-cancellations-europe.html\">airlines<\/a>, rebounded. Shares of <span class=\"QuoteInBody-quoteNameContainer\" data-test=\"QuoteInBody\" id=\"LiveStory-SpecialReport-QuoteInBody-17\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/BA\/\">Boeing<\/a><span class=\"QuoteInBody-inlineButton\"><span class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistContainer\" id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\" data-analytics-id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\"><button class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistButton\" aria-label=\"Add To Watchlist\" data-testid=\"dropdown-btn\"><span class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-addWatchListFromTag\"\/><\/button><\/span><\/span><\/span> and <span class=\"QuoteInBody-quoteNameContainer\" data-test=\"QuoteInBody\" id=\"LiveStory-SpecialReport-QuoteInBody-18\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/RCL\/\">Royal Caribbean<\/a><span class=\"QuoteInBody-inlineButton\"><span class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistContainer\" id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\" data-analytics-id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\"><button class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistButton\" aria-label=\"Add To Watchlist\" data-testid=\"dropdown-btn\"><span class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-addWatchListFromTag\"\/><\/button><\/span><\/span><\/span>, for instance, advanced 2% and 7%, respectively. Others such as <span class=\"QuoteInBody-quoteNameContainer\" data-test=\"QuoteInBody\" id=\"LiveStory-SpecialReport-QuoteInBody-19\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/AMZN\/\">Amazon<\/a><span class=\"QuoteInBody-inlineButton\"><span class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistContainer\" id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\" data-analytics-id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\"><button class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistButton\" aria-label=\"Add To Watchlist\" data-testid=\"dropdown-btn\"><span class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-addWatchListFromTag\"\/><\/button><\/span><\/span><\/span> and <span class=\"QuoteInBody-quoteNameContainer\" data-test=\"QuoteInBody\" id=\"LiveStory-SpecialReport-QuoteInBody-20\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/ABNB\/\">Airbnb<\/a><span class=\"QuoteInBody-inlineButton\"><span class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistContainer\" id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\" data-analytics-id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\"><button class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistButton\" aria-label=\"Add To Watchlist\" data-testid=\"dropdown-btn\"><span class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-addWatchListFromTag\"\/><\/button><\/span><\/span><\/span> also moved higher.<\/p>\n<p>Investors are now &#8220;moving beyond this conflict,&#8221; said Anthony Saglimbene, chief market strategist at Ameriprise Financial. &#8220;I think the market has walked back the worst-case scenarios, and it sees a path for the U.S. and Iran to end the conflict and the Strait of Hormuz to remain open.
