\n<\/p>\n
There are plenty of new faces on and off the court in Running Point<\/em><\/a> season 2.\n<\/p>\n The Netflix sports comedy series from creators Elaine Ko, Mindy Kaling<\/a>, Ike Barinholtz<\/a> and David Stassen returned on April 23 with Isla Gordon (Kate Hudson<\/a>) preparing to embark on her sophomore season as president of the fictional Los Angeles Waves basketball team.\n<\/p>\n After their heartbreaking playoff loss at the end of season 1<\/a>, Isla now has her eyes set on securing a championship victory for the Waves \u2014 and will do whatever it takes to get there.\n<\/p>\n Supporting Isla and the Waves on their quest toward winning it all are many familiar faces from season 1, including her fianc\u00e9 Lev Levenson (Max Greenfield<\/a>), her best friend Ali Lee (Brenda Song<\/a>) and her brothers, Sandy (Drew Tarver<\/a>), Ness (Scott MacArthur) and Jackie (Fabrizio Guido).\n<\/p>\n Waves players Marcus Winfield (Toby Sandeman<\/a>) and Travis Bugg (Chet Hanks<\/a>) also return in season 2, plus several brand new characters (and celebrity cameos!).\n<\/p>\n Here\u2019s a breakdown of every new cast member joining Running Point<\/em> season 2.\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Courtesy of Netflix<\/p>\n <\/span> Ray Romano<\/a> joins the Running Point <\/em>season 2 cast as Norm Stinson, a socially awkward basketball expert who becomes the Waves’ new head coach. Norm takes over the team after the previous head coach, Jay Brown (portrayed in season 1 by Jay Ellis), returns to the East Coast to be closer to his family.\n<\/p>\n Isla goes rogue with the hiring of Norm, selecting him over her brothers\u2019 flashier pick, a hot-shot college coach named Danny Pierce. But despite the doubt from her family and the media, Isla has faith that Norm’s vision will help the Waves win a championship.\n<\/p>\n Just like Norm wasn\u2019t the original pick for the Waves\u2019 head coaching job, Romano was not originally cast to portray Norm in the Netflix series. Robert Townsend<\/a> was initially cast in the recurring role; however, Netflix shifted directions in October 2025 and recast Romano as Norm, Deadline<\/em><\/a> <\/em>reported. With the Emmy winner on board, the role of Norm was reimagined and reshoots took place in the fall of 2025.\n<\/p>\n \u201cOh, I love him! He is so wonderful,\u201d Hudson said of Romano to Entertainment Tonight<\/em><\/a> after the casting shake-up was announced. \u201cWe are so lucky to have him and we are having a great time.\u201d\n<\/p>\n Running Point<\/em> marks a return to Netflix for Romano: the Everybody Loves Raymond<\/em><\/a> star appeared opposite Lisa Kudrow<\/a> in the series No Good Deed<\/em><\/a> in December 2024.\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Courtesy of Netflix<\/p>\n <\/span> Ken Marino<\/a> portrays Al Fleischman \u2014 the self-appointed \u201ctoilet king of Orange County\u201d \u2014 in season 2 of Running Point<\/em>.\n<\/p>\n Marino\u2019s character continuously pesters Isla and the Waves for better courtside seats. But when she won\u2019t move him from under the basket to center court with the A-listers, the so-called \u201cFlush Man\u201d tries his luck with Cam.\n<\/p>\n With Fleischman willing to pay any price, Cam sees the opportunity to use the toilet king to his benefit.\n<\/p>\n Marino previously appeared on Netflix\u2019s The Residence<\/em><\/a>, as well as in movies such as Wanderlust<\/em>, Role Models<\/em> and Wet Hot American Summer<\/em>.\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Courtesy of Netflix<\/p>\n <\/span> Comedian Blake Anderson<\/a> plays the character of Leroy in the second season of Running Point<\/em>. Leroy is Cam\u2019s not-so-sober companion from rehab who is by his side as he schemes to take back his role as president of the Waves.\n<\/p>\n Anderson is best known for his role on Workaholics<\/em> and has also appeared in other popular sitcoms, including Community<\/em>, Arrested Development<\/em> and Parks and Recreation<\/em>.\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Maya Dehlin Spach\/FilmMagic<\/p>\n <\/span> Aliyah Turner joins the Running Point<\/em> cast as Zo\u00e9 Debay, a former child star who\u2019s on the cusp of becoming an A-list actress. But the celeb causes problems for the Waves \u2014 both on the court and in the locker room \u2014 after Dyson starts dating her following a break-up with Travis.\n<\/p>\n Turner announced her casting in the Netflix series on her Instagram. \u201cRUNNING POINT Season 2 coming soon\u2026 and I cannot wait for you all to meet Zo\u00e9 Debay✨All glory to God💗,\u201d she wrote alongside the post<\/a>.\n<\/p>\n Prior to Running Point<\/em>, Turner has been seen in the STARZ series Power Book III: Raising Kanan<\/em> and Unsolved: The Murders of Tupac and the Notorious B.I.G.<\/em>\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Maya Dehlin Spach\/FilmMagic<\/p>\n <\/span> Isla must also contend with Magnus, played by Tommy Dewey<\/a>, in the second season of Running Point<\/em>.\n<\/p>\n Dewey\u2019s character is the general manager of the Toronto Trappers \u2014 and is known as the \u201cpoacher\u201d for his ability to steal other teams\u2019 talent. When he shows up in L.A., Magnus has his eyes on one of the Waves\u2019 top assets.\n<\/p>\n Running Point <\/em>marks a reunion for Dewey and series creator Kaling; the two previously worked together on the first season of The Mindy Project<\/em><\/a>. Dewey is also known for his role in Hulu\u2019s Casual<\/em>.\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Amy Sussman\/Getty<\/p>\n <\/span> Aruna, played by Richa Moorjani<\/a>, is the Waves\u2019 star accountant who can manage any financial fiasco \u2014 and with the Gordon family, there are plenty.\n<\/p>\n Moorjani and Kaling previously worked together when the former starred in the latter’s Netflix series Never Have I Ever<\/em><\/a>. She also appeared on episodes of The Mindy Project<\/em>.\n<\/p>\n Moorjani announced the reunion on her Instagram<\/a>, writing, \u201c🏀 🥰 back in my happy place on another @mindykaling show.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Phillip Faraone\/Getty\u00a0<\/p>\n <\/span> With the Waves seeking a championship, Ness secures star point guard Tommy White, played by Jake Picking<\/a>, in a trade from Nashville to the Waves. But while in L.A., White seems to have his eyes on a different prize \u2014 Sandy.\n<\/p>\n Picking joins season 2 of Running Point<\/em> after appearing on the 2022 Showtime series The First Lady<\/em> and the film Top Gun: Maverick<\/em> the same year.\n<\/p>\n He also portrayed Rock Hudson in the Ryan Murphy series Hollywood<\/em>.\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Courtesy of Netflix<\/p>\n <\/span> Running Point<\/em> co-creator Barinholtz jumps from behind the camera to an on-screen role in season 2. He makes a recurring appearance as cousin Benny, adding to the complicated Gordon family dynamics.\n<\/p>\n For Barinholtz, appearing in the sports comedy comes close to fulfilling his childhood ambitions<\/a>. \u201cMy dream probably would’ve been to play basketball, but I just wasn’t good enough,\u201d he previously told PEOPLE.\n<\/p>\n Prior to his guest role on Running Point<\/em>, Barinholtz’s most recent acting work can be seen in Apple TV\u2019s The Studio<\/em><\/a>. He is also known for appearing in The Mindy Project<\/em> and Eastbound and Down<\/em>.\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Courtesy of Netflix<\/p>\n <\/span> Octavia Spencer<\/a> has a guest spot in season 2 of Running Point<\/em> as Diane Robicheaux, a civil rights attorney and feminist legal scholar who represents the Waves dancers when they go on strike.\n<\/p>\n Hudson and Spencer have previously acted together on the Apple TV series Truth Be Told<\/em><\/a>. The Academy Award winning actress is also known for her roles in films such as The Help<\/em>, Hidden Figures<\/em> and The Shape of Water<\/em>.\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Courtesy of Netflix<\/p>\n <\/span> Nicole Richie<\/a> appears in a guest role on season 2 of Running Point<\/em> as Nicole Vark, the head of Vark Pharmaceuticals. Isla and Ali know Nicole from college, and when they need a new sponsor for the Waves\u2019 stadium, Isla tries to cash in a favor with her former sorority sister.\n<\/p>\n Richie, who rose to fame in the early 2000s on The Simple Life<\/em><\/a>, has appeared in both reality television and scripted series. Prior to her guest spot on Running Point<\/em>, she reunited with her Simple Life<\/em> costar Paris Hilton<\/a> in 2024 for Paris & Nicole: The Encore<\/em><\/a>.\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Katrina Marcinowski\/NetflixNetflix<\/p>\n <\/span> Season 2 of Running Point <\/em>has Scott Speedman<\/a> guest starring as\u00a0Luke McShay, whose family owns the L.A. Snowcats hockey team. The McShays and Gordons have decades of tension that comes to a head in a family basketball scrimmage (with big stakes on the line).\n<\/p>\n The Grey\u2019s Anatomy<\/em> star<\/a> most recently appeared in the lead role of the new ABC and Hulu series RJ Decker<\/em><\/a>, which premiered on March 3.
