    The Big Bang Theory<\/em><\/a> timeline is expanding.\n<\/p>\n

    Stuart Fails to Save the Universe<\/em>, the Big Bang<\/em> spinoff centered on Kevin Sussman<\/a>‘s Stuart Bloom, will be arriving on HBO Max in July, the show’s cast announced during a Sunday, April 26 panel at CCXP Mexico City.\n<\/p>\n

    The streamer also unveiled a handful of first-look images from the show, featuring costars Lauren Lapkus<\/a> (Denise), Brian Posehn<\/a> (Burt) and John Ross Bowie<\/a> (Barry). The series will follow the comic book store owner as he’s “tasked with restoring reality after he breaks a device built by Sheldon and Leonard, accidentally bringing about a multiverse Armageddon,” teases a logline.\n<\/p>\n

    “Stuart is aided in this quest by his girlfriend Denise, geologist friend Bert, and quantum physicist\/all-around pain in the ass Barry Kripke. Along the way, they meet alternate-universe versions of characters we\u2019ve come to know and love from The Big Bang Theory,” <\/em>the description continues. “<\/em>As the title implies, things don\u2019t go well.”\n<\/p>\n

    In the photos, Stuart and crew can be seen hanging out at his store, the Comic Center of Pasadena, carrying around a giant device and somehow in an apparent war zone.\n<\/p>\n

    The cast revealed during CCXP Mexico City that the series will also feature original music from Danny Elfman. Stuart Fails to Save the Universe<\/em> comes from Chuck Lorre Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television. Its created, written and executive produced by Chuck Lorre, Zak Penn and Bill Prady.\n<\/p>\n

    Lorre, 73, previously told PEOPLE the show would be a “science-fiction action-adventure comedy<\/a>.”\n<\/p>\n

    \u201cWe just finished principal photography and I’m pretty excited about it. It’s a big swing,” he said at Project Angel Food\u2019s Grand Opening of the Chuck Lorre Family Foundation Kitchen & Campus. “I think it will be revered or reviled. I’m not sure which.\u201d<\/p>\n

    \u201cIt was fun because Lauren Lapkus and Brian Posehn and John Ross Bowie fill out the cast and they were all supporting players on the\u00a0Big Bang Theory<\/em>,\u201d Lorre added. \u201cNow they’re the leads, and it’s just kind of cool.\u201d\n<\/p>\n

    HBO Max announced that it picked the show up in July 2025. The Big Bang Theory<\/em>\u00a0ran for 12 seasons from 2007 to 2019. During the show’s run, fans were introduced to Stuart and Barry in season 2, while Denise and Bert joined the series later.\n<\/p>\n

    Stuart<\/em> will mark the fourth series in the Big Bang<\/em> universe, also following Young Sheldon<\/em> and Georgie & Mandy\u2019s First Marriage<\/em>.\n<\/p>\n

    Prady previously shared in a statement that writing alongside Lorre and Penn had “been damn fun.\u201d\u00a0\n<\/p>\n

    \u201cI\u2019m certain that joy will come through the screen,\u201d he said. \u201cPutting characters we loved from\u00a0The Big Bang Theory\u00a0<\/em>into a complex science-fiction story with the kind of mythology that those characters love while maintaining the comedic elements is incredibly satisfying.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0\n<\/p>\n
