Jenna Bush Hager<\/a> just dropped major news about her latest project outside of NBC\u2019s Today<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n Bush Hager\u2019s schedule has been busy recently with high-profile celebrity interviews<\/a>, working on new projects through her book imprint<\/a>, Thousand Voices Books, and developing a TV pilot with NBC. On the Thursday, April 30, episode of Today With Jenna & Sheinelle<\/em>, Bush Hager shared new information about the future of her upcoming scripted show.<\/p>\n \u201cWe have a pilot at NBC, which is really exciting. We\u2019ve shot it,\u201d she told Sheinelle Jones<\/a>. \u201cWe\u2019ll find out this week, next week, if it\u2019s gonna get picked up. It\u2019s either called Protection<\/em> or In the Line of Fire<\/em>. But Peter Krause<\/a>, who was in Six Feet Under<\/a><\/em>, is starring in it, [and] Hope Davis<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n Behind-the-scenes photos were displayed on the show, including a snap of the cast filming and a pic of Bush Hager on set with her fellow executive producers, Joshua Safran<\/a> and Ben Spector.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s this kind of really funny, Scandal<\/em><\/a>-esque [show]. It has a little bit of a White House twist, so I brought some of that,\u201d Bush Hager \u2014 who is the daughter of former President George W. Bush<\/a> \u2014 shared. \u201c[There\u2019s] a little romance, but [also] family drama, which I think we\u2019re all kind of desperate for, with some mystery.\u201d<\/p>\n NBC<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Now that her busy schedule is beginning to calm down, Bush Hager said she\u2019s going to take some time to prioritize her family. \u201cI have been working a lot because this has been shooting, and then I had these big interviews, and then, all the book stuff,\u201d she said. \u201cAnd so, this morning, when I woke up, I thought, \u2018OK. The next couple weeks, the next couple months, it\u2019s kid-focused.\u2019\u201d (Bush Hager shares her three kids<\/a> \u2014 Mila, Poppy, and Hal \u2014 with her husband, Henry Hager<\/a>.)<\/p>\n Back in January, NBC announced<\/a> that Bush Hager would executive produce the new show Protection<\/em> through her production company, Thousand Voices. \u201cWhen a U.S. Marshal falls in the line of duty, a seemingly cut-and-dry case turns into a deadly conspiracy as a family of law enforcement agents becomes the target of a mysterious assassin,\u201d reads the show\u2019s description. \u201cBridging personal differences and crossing professional boundaries, the Thornhill family must use the expertise from a lifetime of protecting civilians and politicians to protect one another and bring the killer to justice \u2026 even if it means betraying their sworn code.\u201d<\/p>\n Bush Hager shared her excitement for the show in the January 14 episode of Jenna & Sheinelle<\/em>, stating, \u201cWho knew I would ever do something like this, ladies and gentlemen? It\u2019s about different levels of law enforcement, some based on [the] Secret Service. So, y\u2019all know I know about that. And it\u2019s a mystery, and I joined all the pitches because every time, to watch these sometimes jaded executives\u2019 \u2014 not all of you \u2014 faces drop with the twist. The twist is so good.\u201d<\/p>\n In the March 11 episode<\/a> of The Kelly Clarkson Show<\/em><\/a>, Bush Hager called the show a \u201ctribute\u201d to Secret Service members who \u201csacrificed a lot to hang out with my family and me.\u201d She jokingly added, \u201cAnd I never hooked up<\/a> with my Secret Service men. \u2026 I should have done it!\u201d Host Kelly Clarkson<\/a>, meanwhile, said a Secret Service romance was a \u201cmissed opportunity\u201d for Bush Hager.<\/p>\n Today With Jenna & Sheinelle<\/em>, Weekdays, 10 a.m., NBC<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
