Kevin Bacon is still in impressive shape, recently showing off his lean<\/a> physique to Instagram<\/a> followers. While filming a video joking that, \u2018If you take an actor\u2019s shirt off, chances are he\u2019s wearing a wire,\u2019 the 68-year-old casually revealed his six-pack in the process.<\/p>\n

Much like his Footloose<\/em> dance routines back in 1984, Bacon approaches fitness with high intensity. His workouts are typically short, sharp and efficient \u2013 getting as much work done as possible in minimal time.<\/p>\n

\u2018I hike, I lift weights, I do calisthenics<\/a>,’ Bacon said<\/a>. \u2018Sometimes I work with a trainer. I don\u2019t work out for long periods of time because I\u2019m just too bored by it. High-intensity<\/a>, short periods of time are much more beneficial for me.\u2019<\/p>\n

It\u2019s an approach he has maintained well into his sixties. While filming 2025 series The Bondsman<\/em>, Bacon even had a gym \u2018built\u2019 on set \u2013 although it wasn\u2019t exactly state-of-the-art. In a satirical Instagram video<\/a>, he revealed the setup consisted of just two dumbbells<\/a> and a kettlebell.<\/p>\n

\u2018You spend a lot of time on set if you\u2019re doing a TV show or film \u2013 12 hours is usually the minimum,\u2019 he said. \u2018So it\u2019s very hard to stay in shape, and there\u2019s a lot of free food, which doesn\u2019t help. And you look at these guys with these incredible bodies, bodies that I can only dream of. I say to myself, \u201cI really wish I had a gym on set.\u201d And some of these guys really do \u2013 they set up these incredible gyms right on set.<\/p>\n

\u2018So this time I said to them that I\u2019ve done well and I think I need to stay in shape, so please build me a gym,\u2019 Bacon added, before revealing the three weights.<\/p>\n

But that was clearly enough. As someone who prefers intense, time-efficient sessions, the stripped-back setup allowed him to train quickly without overcomplicating things.<\/p>\n

That minimalism<\/a> appears throughout Bacon\u2019s approach to fitness. Speaking to Esquire<\/a><\/em><\/em> in 2025, he explained how losing a large amount of money in Bernie Madoff\u2019s Ponzi scheme still fuels his workouts today \u2013 while also revealing his preference for rough-around-the-edges gyms over polished luxury facilities.<\/p>\n

\u2018I go to this gym. It has a few machines and only a handful of people there at any given time. There are no showers; it\u2019s very bare-bones. But there\u2019s a leg-press<\/a> machine. A leg press can be brutal. The machine is right next to a window, and when I look out that window, I\u2019m looking right at the building where Madoff was,\u2019 he said.<\/p>\n

\u2018I\u2019m in excruciating pain, doing the leg press, staring out that window. It\u2019s perfect, in a funny way, because I also have to think, \u201cI can get through this\u201d.\u2019
