Shelton Benjamin still has something to give.<\/p>\n
In recent months, names from the early 2000s like John Cena and AJ Styles have brought an end to their in-ring careers. With other names like Brock Lesnar and Rey Mysterio seemingly on the horizon, many stars from that era are being asked about their future plans in the business.<\/p>\n
In a new interview with The Wrestling Classic<\/a>, Shelton Benjamin noted that he still feels like he has a lot to give to the wrestling business.<\/p>\n \u201cThe biggest reason is that I still feel like I have something to give. When we talk about the other guys in my class, the industry and the company really taxed them. They gave their lives to this business in huge ways and they were in all of these amazing matches for years and years on end. I\u2019ve always had the same opportunities as them. I\u2019ve had the opportunity to do the same type of thing, but I haven\u2019t had the same opportunities that they have. Quite frankly, I just feel like I still have a lot to give. Physically, I can still do it. So, why would I quit?\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n Benjamin went on to say that his friends will inform him when it is time for him to wrap up his in-ring career.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019ve made this promise to myself and all of my best friends including MVP, Bobby, Cedric, New Day. I\u2019ve told all of my friends, there may come a time when I should step away and I won\u2019t realize it or I won\u2019t want to. I\u2019ve given all my friends [permission to] give me the nod. It\u2019s time, let\u2019s start wrapping this up. I don\u2019t know how much longer I have in the industry but for the time I have and for the ability that I have, I want to give the wrestling business as much of me as I possibly can. To my classmates, it\u2019s congratulations. It\u2019s sad to see some guys from my era start to, for a lack of a better term, fall off. Eventually, I\u2019m going to be one of them but for the time that I\u2019m here \u2014 First, backup, it ain\u2019t going to be anytime soon. But for the time that I\u2019m here, I want to give everything that I can and just have fun and enjoy it while I can because when it\u2019s over, it\u2019s over. I\u2019ve got more time behind me than in front of me, so I want to make it count.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n Benjamin has been active in the ring since 2000.
