Kennedy Jr<\/a>. The study found that the United States recommends more childhood vaccines than many peer nations.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph-elevate inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph_elevate\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cmprpnz8900063b6wr08fn6a4@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            The Trump administration previously moved to narrow the number of recommended childhood vaccines in response to the report, but the move was <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/kennedy-acip-vaccines-cdc-fc758951019f41d2f5e81e4e2faa22d3\" target=\"_blank\">blocked by a federal judge<\/a> in Massachusetts. The administration is <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/vaccines-lawsuit-kennedy-children-immunizations-19bc1c9c13b56d6607efb2bdfcf7dfc7\" target=\"_blank\">appealing the decision<\/a>.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph-elevate inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph_elevate\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cmprpnz8900073b6wvghdb6q8@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            The study recommends vaccinating all children against 11 diseases. Several others would be recommended only for high-risk groups or when doctors recommend them in what\u2019s called \u201cshared decision-making.\u201d That includes vaccines for flu, rotavirus, hepatitis A, hepatitis B, some forms of meningitis and RSV.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph-elevate inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph_elevate\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cmprpnz8900083b6w1akciylh@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            Trump\u2019s order adds weight behind the study at a time when the administration had appeared to be trying to shift focus away from Kennedy\u2019s more contentious vaccine policies and toward more mainstream topics like <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/dietary-guidelines-health-agriculture-federal-nutrition-2d8fa56be3c5900fc45116af7c69d786\" target=\"_blank\">healthy eating<\/a>.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph-elevate inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph_elevate\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cmprpnz8900093b6wt8xrw8s6@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            The order directs the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to review the study and \u201ctake any appropriate steps\u201d to update its vaccine recommendations. It says the CDC should \u201cprovide maximum flexibility to parents and doctors\u201d and directs agencies to make sure all actions, regulations and funding are aligned with the study.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph-elevate inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph_elevate\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cmprpnz89000a3b6w9bbx60jz@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            The order adds that any changes should ensure that Americans retain their current access to vaccines.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph-elevate inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph_elevate\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cmprpnz89000b3b6wxvzau2gm@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            States, not the federal government, have the authority to require vaccinations for schoolchildren. While CDC requirements often influence those state regulations, some states have begun creating their <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/cdc-west-coast-vaccines-trump-fd5ce557532a3c9f37b77ff9f14b07b9\" target=\"_blank\">own alliances<\/a> to counter the Trump administration\u2019s guidance on vaccines.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph-elevate inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph_elevate\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cmprpnz8a000c3b6wlrhyeskk@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            Trump directed HHS to carry out the study in December.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph-elevate inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph_elevate\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cmprpnz8a000d3b6wr8a7g5mu@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            Kennedy is a longtime activist against vaccines and has sought ways to inject his skepticism about the shots into national guidance.
