{"id":142838,"date":"2026-05-31T13:18:45","date_gmt":"2026-05-31T16:18:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ubirataonline.com.br\/3-5m-gordon-starts-son-brace\/"},"modified":"2026-05-31T13:18:48","modified_gmt":"2026-05-31T16:18:48","slug":"3-5m-gordon-starts-son-brace","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ubirataonline.com.br\/en\/3-5m-gordon-starts-son-brace\/","title":{"rendered":"$3.5m Gordon starts + Son brace"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div id=\"\">\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n<p>We\u2019re getting closer to the start of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with many participating countries indulging in some last-ditch friendlies before the big kick-off.<\/p>\n<p>There could be some significant takeaways for Fantasy managers from these friendlies \u2013 and we\u2019ll be producing some brief Scout Notes from each of these kickabouts over the next two weeks.<\/p>\n<p>We start with all the friendlies contested up until the early hours of Sunday 31 May.<\/p>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">MEXICO 2-0 GHANA<\/h3>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><picture><source srcset=\"https:\/\/cdn.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/image-425.webp 500w, https:\/\/cdn.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/image-425-300x200.webp 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" type=\"image\/webp\"><\/source><\/picture><\/figure>\n<p><em>(23rd May)<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Goals:<\/strong> Gutierrez, Martinez<\/li>\n<li><strong>Assist<\/strong>: Romo<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">NOTES<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Several key players played for Mexico, including <strong>Rangel<\/strong> (GK), <strong>Gallardo<\/strong> (LB) and attackers <strong>Vega <\/strong>and <strong>Alvarado<\/strong>. <strong>Alvarez<\/strong> also played the second half.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Raul, Quinones<\/strong>, and a couple of others were absent due to domestic leagues.<\/li>\n<li>17 year old future star <strong>Gilberto Mora<\/strong> also played, had three shots and hit the woodwork<\/li>\n<li><strong>Alvarado<\/strong> had 3 shots on target and one key pass<\/li>\n<li>This was largely a second string team for Ghana. Key players <strong>Asare<\/strong> (GK) and <strong>Oppong<\/strong> (CB) featured but they were without most of their first team.<\/li>\n<li>Absences included <strong>Semenyo, Kudus<\/strong> (injured), <strong>Williams <\/strong>and<strong> Ayew<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Mexico were dominant in possession, registered more than double the shots, and had the only big chance of the game. The 17-year-old wonderkid, Mora, was heavily involved and was lively.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">MOROCCO 5-0 Burundi<\/h3>\n<p><em>(26th May) <\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Goals:<\/strong> El Kaabi x2, Bentayeb, Benjdida x2<\/li>\n<li><strong>Assists<\/strong>: Sbai, Maamma<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">NOTES<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>This was a behind closed doors match, so there wasn\u2019t lots of information available for this one.<\/li>\n<li>It was actually 0-0 heading into the break but Morocco turned up the heat second half.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Brahim Diaz<\/strong> has made the Morocco squad, even though he is yet to be added to the official Fantasy game!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">EGYPT 1-0 Russia<\/h3>\n<p>(28th May)<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">NOTES<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Egypt played close to a first team in this one, outside of <strong>Salah<\/strong>, who has been given a rest (reportedly for psychological reasons).<\/li>\n<li>So, lots of key players involved, including <strong>Marmoush, Hany, Ashour, Trezeguet, Attia<\/strong> etc.<\/li>\n<li>A clean sheet for Egypt meant three on the bounce for them after doing likewise against Spain and Saudi Arabia, so very good defensive form heading into the World Cup. They have a decent group from a defensive perspective.<\/li>\n<li>They did, however, concede two big chances and eight shots to Russia.<\/li>\n<li>The Pharaohs themselves dominated possession, had three big chances and 11 attempts. Hany (right-back) was very impressive. He delivered an assist and a clean sheet and created two big chances, and three chances overall.<\/li>\n<li>Ashour played about 30+ mins and had one shot. Zizo and Trezeguet also played just 30+ mins.<\/li>\n<li>Marmoush played 70+ mins and had three attempts in goal. Star striker <strong>Almoez Ali<\/strong> didn\u2019t start, came on for 20 minutes then got a straight red card. The rest of their key players also came on pretty late around the 58th minute, so I\u2019m not sure the result is a true reflection of their capabilities.<\/li>\n<li>Qatar failed to have a single big chance, even with <strong>Afif<\/strong> on the pitch. They had just eight shots and only three corners, while they conceded one big chance and 11 shots to Ireland.<\/li>\n<li>Afif managed just one shot and one key pass. <strong>Junior<\/strong> also managed the same.<\/li>\n<li>The bench options couldn\u2019t come up with much to sway the game either. Manager Julen Lopetegui should probably start his best team next time; we\u2019ll get a better gauge of what we can expect from them at that point.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">IRAN 3-1 Gambia<\/h3>\n<p><em>(29th May) <\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Goals<\/strong>: Yousefi, Rezaeian, Taremi<\/li>\n<li><strong>Assists<\/strong>: Mohebi, Alipourghara (x2)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">NOTES<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Both sides were missing key players, it\u2019s worth noting. Some Gambia players chose not to travel.<\/li>\n<li>Lots of key players didn\u2019t start the game for Iran. Key player <strong>Azmoun <\/strong>didn\u2019t make the squad, rumoured to be for political reasons.<\/li>\n<li>Winger <strong>Ghayedi<\/strong> is nursing a minor injury, while <strong>Jahanbakhsh<\/strong> is at the training camp but wasn\u2019t in this squad.<\/li>\n<li>Key players who started include <strong>Beiranvand<\/strong> (GK), <strong>Kanaani<\/strong> (CB), <strong>Ezatolahi<\/strong> (CM), <strong>Mohebi<\/strong> (winger) and <strong>Taremi <\/strong>(10\/9). Key players who came on include <strong>Khalilzadeh<\/strong> (CB) and <strong>Rezaeian<\/strong> (RB).<\/li>\n<li>There isn\u2019t much data on the game, but it was good to see the likes of <strong>Taremi<\/strong> and<strong> Mohebi<\/strong>, two of their best attackers, produce a goal contribution. The super-attacking Rezaeian also scored.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Andorra 0-1 IRAQ<\/h3>\n<p><em>(29th May)<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Goal<\/strong>: Ali Yousef<\/li>\n<li><strong>Assist:<\/strong> Ahmad Qasem<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">NOTES<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>The Iraqi manager likes a 4-4-2 and that didn\u2019t change for this one.<\/li>\n<li>Iraq didn\u2019t start a lot of their key players but crucial players who did start included <strong>Hashem<\/strong> (CB), <strong>Tahseen <\/strong>(CB) and <strong>Farji<\/strong> (winger).\/<\/li>\n<li>This was mainly a game for the manager to see new players, and give minutes to those who have hardly played for their clubs recently, so not many key players featured at all. So, lots of key players didn\u2019t feature.<\/li>\n<li>Their all-out attack ethos still showed, however, with 86% possession and 22 shots; they just couldn\u2019t convert.<\/li>\n<li>South Africa will be arguably the most exciting out of all the qualified African teams due to the way they play.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">BOSNIA &amp; HERZEGOVINA 0-0 North Macedonia<\/h3>\n<p><em>(29th May)<\/em><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">NOTES<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Another goalless friendly but lots to highlight.<\/li>\n<li>The key players who started were<strong> Katic <\/strong>(CB), <strong>Bajraktarevic<\/strong> (winger) and <strong>Tahirovic<\/strong> (CM), so not many!<\/li>\n<li>The key players off the bench were <strong>Memic <\/strong>and<strong> Demirovic<\/strong>, who both came on for the second half.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Vasilj<\/strong> (GK), <strong>Kolasinac<\/strong> (LB), <strong>Basic<\/strong> (CM) and <strong>Dzeko<\/strong> (FOR) were the key<strong> <\/strong>players in the squad who didn\u2019t play at all.<\/li>\n<li>So, Bosnia didn\u2019t field their strongest side and the minutes were a bit all over the place. There is still no clear indication about who is number one.<\/li>\n<li>There were rests for<strong> McTominay, McGinn, Ferguson, Adams<\/strong> and <strong>Tierney<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Scotland were 1-0 down for most of the first half but the Curacao red card helped them draw level before half-time. They ended up netting three in the second half.<\/li>\n<li>Christie took right-sided corners, scored, assisted, managed five key passes and attempted two shots on goal.<\/li>\n<li>Shankland continues to impress, bagging two goals and having six shots on goal.<\/li>\n<li>Robertson made three key passes and created one big chance.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Gilmour<\/strong> is ruled out of the World Cup after suffering a knee injury.<\/li>\n<li>As for Curacao, this was basically first team. Key players who started included <strong>Room (<\/strong>GK), <strong>Floranus<\/strong> (LB\/RB), <strong>Obispo<\/strong> (CB), <strong>Bazoer<\/strong> (CB),<strong> L.Bacuna<\/strong> (CM), <strong>Chong<\/strong> (RW), <strong>Comenencia<\/strong> (CM), <strong>J.Bacuna<\/strong> (LW) and <strong>Locadia<\/strong> (F).<\/li>\n<li>Key players who didn\u2019t feature were <strong>Sambo<\/strong> (CB), <strong>Gorre<\/strong> (LW) and <strong>Hansen (<\/strong>RW).<\/li>\n<li>Even with a red card, they still had as many big chances as Scotland in the first half.<\/li>\n<li>The Bacunas only played 50-60 minutes; they are key for Curacao.<\/li>\n<li>Hard to get a read with the Locadia red card, so don\u2019t read this as \u2018Scotland good, Curacao bad\u2019.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">MEXICO 1-0 AUSTRALIA<\/h3>\n<p><em>(31st May)<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Goal: <\/strong>Vasquez<\/li>\n<li><strong>Assist<\/strong>: Vega<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">NOTES<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Lots of key Mexico players started, included <strong>Rangel<\/strong> (GK), <strong>Vasquez<\/strong> (CB), <strong>Sanchez <\/strong>(RB), <strong>Alvarez<\/strong> (CM but played CB), <strong>Fidalgo<\/strong> (CM) and<strong> Vega<\/strong> (LW).<\/li>\n<li>Key players featuring off the bench include <strong>Reyes <\/strong>(RB), <strong>Gimenez<\/strong> (F \u2013 although he likely won\u2019t start), <strong>Montes<\/strong> (CB), <strong>Gallardo<\/strong> (LB), <strong>Mora<\/strong> (17 year old wonderkid!) and <strong>Quinones<\/strong> (RW).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Raul Jimenez<\/strong> didn\u2019t make the bench but he just arrived from England.<\/li>\n<li>It wasn\u2019t fantastic from Mexico, with only one big chance and 13 attempts. Australia were the better side in the second half.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Vasquez<\/strong> was a standout with the goal and clean sheet. <strong>Vega <\/strong>got the assist with one of three key passes.<\/li>\n<li>Australia went close to full strength from the get-go. Key players who started<strong> Ryan<\/strong> (GK), <strong>Bos <\/strong>(LWB), <strong>Harrington<\/strong> (CB),<strong> Souttar <\/strong>(CB), <strong>Circati<\/strong> (CB), <strong>Italiano <\/strong>(RWB), <strong>Irvine<\/strong> (CM), <strong>O\u2019Neill<\/strong> (CM), <strong>Metcalfe, Toure<\/strong> (F)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Irankunda<\/strong> only played 10 minutes, while <strong>Burgess<\/strong> (WB) played at the death.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Riley McGree<\/strong> is injured and won\u2019t be involved in the tournament.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">ECUADOR 2-1 SAUDI ARABIA<\/h3>\n<p><em>(31st May)<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Goals<\/strong>: Porozo, Valencia | Mandash<\/li>\n<li><strong>Assists<\/strong>: Yeboah x2 | Al-Hejji<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">NOTES<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Not many key Ecuador players actually started the game. In fact, they were missing quite a few regulars.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Estupinan<\/strong> (LB), <strong>Angulo <\/strong>(LW) and <strong>Yeboah<\/strong> (RW) were the only key names who started.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Hincapie<\/strong> (LB) and <strong>Pacho <\/strong>(CB) were playing in the Champions League final, <strong>Ordonez<\/strong> (CB) was on the bench unused, and <strong>Galidenz<\/strong> (GK), <strong>Enner Valencia<\/strong> (F),<strong> Caicedo<\/strong> (CM), <strong>Franco<\/strong> (RB) and <strong>Plata<\/strong> were all preserved.<\/li>\n<li>Yeboah was the top performer, grabbing both assists. He supplied two big chances, four key passes, and two attempts on goal.<\/li>\n<li>The key Saudi players who started were <strong>Al-Harbi<\/strong> (LB), <strong>Al-Tambakti<\/strong> (CB), <strong>Al-Amri <\/strong>(CB), <strong>Boushal<\/strong> (RB), <strong>Salem Al-Dawsari<\/strong> (LW),<strong> Kanno <\/strong>(CM), <strong>Al-Juwayr<\/strong> (attacker) and <strong>Al-Buraikan<\/strong>. <strong>Al-Dawsari<\/strong> (CM), <strong>Al-Ghannam <\/strong>(RW) and <strong>Kadesh<\/strong> (CB) all came off the bench.<\/li>\n<li>Most of the first team featured in one way or another, and there is still plenty of uncertainy over who fills several positions.<\/li>\n<li>Saudi Arabia matched Ecuador for big chances (three), had more shots (12 v 11), and dominated possession, so were slightly unlucky.<\/li>\n<li>No surprise that one of their best players was Salem: he registered one big chance created, one key pass, three shots, and one big chance missed.
