Cameron Mathison<\/a><\/strong> is commemorating the one-year anniversary<\/a> of a heartbreaking day for his family<\/a>.<\/p>\n One year after the General Hospital<\/em> star<\/a> lost his family home in the devastating fires that ravished Los Angeles neighborhoods in January<\/a> 2025, Mathison took to Instagram<\/a> to share how his life<\/a> has forever been changed by that tragic day.<\/p>\n 🎬SIGN UP for Parade’s Daily newsletter to get the latest pop culture news & celebrity interviews delivered right to your inbox<\/strong><\/a>🎬<\/p>\n Uploading footage of the wreckage that was left where his Altadena home<\/a> used to stand, the soap star, 56, wrote, “A year since the fire,” while showing his former home reduced to rubble.<\/p>\n “Loss changed us,” Mathison continued in the Wednesday, Jan. 7 post, adding, “Love carried us.”<\/p>\n “Sending so much love to\u00a0all those affected 🙏🏼💔” his caption concluded.<\/p>\n Mathison’s property in Altadena was the place where he and his ex-wife,\u00a0Vanessa Mathison<\/strong>, raised their two children:\u00a0son<\/a>Lucas<\/strong>, 22 and daughter\u00a0Leila<\/strong>, 19.<\/p>\n Vanessa was among those who commented on the actor’s Instagram post on Wednesday, writing, “I will be forever grieving<\/a> this loss💔” under the video.<\/p>\n In the wake of so much tragedy, Mathison’s family found a silver lining when they were able to salvage one extremely sentimental item<\/a> from the fires: a tile sign that read the name of their family home, “Casa Lula.”<\/p>\n “We did a lot of renovations on this place it was like a passion project, and once we finished all that, we had this beautiful tile thing with the little name on the front,” he said during a Good Morning America<\/em> appearance<\/a> last year, noting that the name “Casa Lula” comes from a combination of both of his kids’ names.<\/p>\n The sign was miraculously recovered in the ash left by the fires, and even though it had a few cracks in it, the All My Children<\/a><\/em> alum said his family planned to put it back together and “make an art piece out of it.”<\/p>\n “Just as a memento to remember, but also to be able to move forward to the next phase, the next chapter,” he said at the time.<\/p>\n Related: Susan Lucci Marks 56th Anniversary of ‘All My Children’ Premiere with Star-Studded Set Photos<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n This story was originally published by Parade<\/a> on Jan 7, 2026, where it first appeared in the News<\/a> section.
