Bellamkonda?<\/h2>\n<p>In 1989, Bellamkonda had never been on a plane before. But at age 21, <a href=\"https:\/\/today.duke.edu\/2019\/08\/immigrants-story-how-three-decades-us-shaped-ravi-bellamkonda#:~:text=Gregory%20Phillips,and%20leaders%20of%20the%20future.\">he boarded a flight to the United States from India <\/a>to pursue a Ph.D at Brown University. His career, rooted in neuroscience and bioengineering, has spanned decades, states and several universities.<\/p>\n<partner-inline util-module-path=\"elements\/partner\" class=\"spacer-large\" placement=\"native-article_link\" sizes=\"[[300, 250], [3, 3]]\" min-height=\"250\" fluid=\"\" outstream=\"\"\/>\n<p>He was a post-doctoral fellow with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology after earning his Ph.D. In 1995, he started as a professor at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio.<\/p>\n<p><cta-atoms-container-inline util-module-path=\"elements\/cta\" class=\"spacer-large\"\/><\/p>\n<p>In 2003, he moved on to the Georgia Institute of Technology, where he held several leadership roles, including Wallace H. Coulter Professor and chair of the department of biomedical engineering, as well as associate vice president of research. After 13 years, he became Vinik Dean of Engineering at Duke University and served as president of the American Institute for Medical and Bioengineering until 2021.<\/p>\n<partner-inline util-module-path=\"elements\/partner\" placement=\"native-article_link\" sizes=\"[[300, 250], [3, 3]]\" min-height=\"250\" fluid=\"\" outstream=\"\"\/>\n<p>Prior to OSU, Bellamkonda had returned to Georgia and served as provost and executive vice president for academic affairs at Emory University, a private university in Atlanta of approximately 16,000 students.<\/p>\n<partner-banner util-module-path=\"elements\/partner\" fluid=\"\" bottom=\"\" lazy=\"\" class=\"spacer-large\" min-height=\"600\" outstream=\"\" momentum=\"\"\/>\n<p>As OSU&#8217;s provost, Bellamkonda oversaw the university&#8217;s portfolio of programs and initiatives in the Office of Academic Affairs, which supports faculty and student success across its six campuses. The deans of all 15 academic colleges and university libraries report to the provost. The Office of Academic Affairs is pushing <a href=\"https:\/\/oaa.osu.edu\/\">&#8220;bold, groundbreaking initiative&#8221;<\/a> ensure &#8220;every Ohio State student will graduate being AI fluent,&#8221; according to the university. Efforts include embedding AI into undergraduate curriculums, training faculty and AI education partnerships outside the university.<\/p>\n<partner-banner util-module-path=\"elements\/partner\" fluid=\"\" bottom=\"\" lazy=\"\" class=\"spacer-large\" min-height=\"390\" outstream=\"\"\/>\n<p>He also launched <a href=\"https:\/\/oaa.osu.edu\/academic-excellence\/invest-strength\">&#8220;Game Changer Scholars&#8221;<\/a> initiative, which is focused on bringing quality and innovative faculty to OSU. Carter offered to resign, and the board accepted on March 7, just a little over two years into his time at OSU.<\/p>\n<partner-banner util-module-path=\"elements\/partner\" fluid=\"\" bottom=\"\" lazy=\"\" class=\"spacer-large\" min-height=\"390\" outstream=\"\"\/>\n<p class=\"exclude-from-newsgate\">The resignation was made public on March 9.<\/p>\n<p class=\"exclude-from-newsgate\">In the aftermath of the resignation, JobsOhio posted a statement to social media, saying that it was possibly linked to a podcaster at the center of the relationship.<\/p>\n<p class=\"exclude-from-newsgate\">The Callout Podcast, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dispatch.com\/story\/news\/education\/2026\/03\/10\/krisanthe-vlachos-woman-linked-ted-carter-resignation-ohio-state\/89082037007\/\">run by Krisanthe Vlachos<\/a>, hosted Carter multiple times. It focuses on helping veterans finds work in the utilities sector, and its latest episode was sponsored by JobsOhio. A spokesperson for JobsOhio told The Dispatch it &#8220;invested&#8221; $15,000 per episode as part of a four-episode pilot series, though only one episode was completed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"related-link\"><span class=\"exclude-from-newsgate\"><strong style=\"margin-right:3px\">More: <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dispatch.com\/story\/news\/state\/2026\/03\/10\/jobsohio-paid-15k-for-podcast-episode-with-woman-linked-to-ted-carter\/89085457007\/\" rel=\"noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">JobsOhio paid up to $60,000 for now removed podcasts linked to OSU&#8217;s Carter<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"exclude-from-newsgate\">Carter was a co-host on that episode, alongside JobsOhio President\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.jobsohio.com\/newsroom\/news-press\/governor-dewine-jobsohio-name-j-p-nauseef-next-president-of-jobsohio\">J.P. Nauseef<\/a>, Vlachos, Carter, Ohio Department of Veterans Services Director John C.
