The directors, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rottentomatoes.com\/celebrity\/matt_bettinelli_olpin\">Matt Bettinelli-Olpin<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rottentomatoes.com\/celebrity\/tyler_gillett\">Tyler Gillett<\/a>, impressed enough folks that they were handed the keys to the <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rottentomatoes.com\/m\/scream_2022\">Scream<\/a><\/em> franchise, keeping them busy in the ensuing years. But now they\u2019re back with a follow-up to <em>Ready or Not<\/em>, aptly titled <em><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rottentomatoes.com\/m\/ready_or_not_2_here_i_come\">Ready or Not 2: Here I Come<\/a><\/strong><\/em>, with star <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rottentomatoes.com\/celebrity\/samara_weaving\">Samara Weaving<\/a> facing off against another cabal of upper-class murderers in a new game, this time with her sister (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rottentomatoes.com\/celebrity\/kathryn_newton\">Kathryn Newton<\/a>) unwillingly along for the ride.<\/p>\n<p>The film held its world premiere at the South by Southwest Film Festival, and reviews are now coming in, with critics calling the sequel a bloody good time that gives fans what they\u2019re looking for.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s what critics are saying about <em>Ready or Not 2: Here I Come<\/em>:<\/p>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>How does it compare to the first film?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>The original film had plenty of dark humor, sure, but this chapter pushes the outrageousness and cartoonishness a whole lot further. In <em>Ready or Not 2<\/em>, the villains are more like full-blown caricatures. The film introduces a colorful array of wealthy killers, each more eccentric and over-the-top than the last\u2026 The script by Guy Busick and R. Christopher Murphy wastes little time reestablishing Grace\u2019s life after the first movie before introducing the new threat. Within the first act, the rules of the expanded game are clear, the villains are introduced, and the hunt begins. There\u2019s a lot of worldbuilding to power through at the outset as a result, but a script by Guy Busick and R. Christopher Murphy does so quickly \u2014 if only to get Grace back into her wedding dress and yellow converse.<br \/>\u2014 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.inverse.com\/entertainment\/ready-not-2-here-i-come-review-sxsw-2026\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Lyvie Scott, Inverse<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>Not since <em>John Wick: Chapter 2<\/em> has a sequel so thoroughly re-contextualized the original film as a small cog in a much bigger machine. Returning screenwriters Guy Busick and R. The movie delivers exactly what Randy promised in <em>Scream 2<\/em>: bigger deaths, more elaborate setups, and a steadily rising body count. Without repeating themselves, they up the ante in a major way. Calling her the film\u2019s secret weapon almost undersells it.
