Jeremy Meeks<\/b>, whose mugshot went viral on Facebook after it was posted in 2014 by the <\/span>Stockton Police Department, has reflected on the reactions to his overnight fame.<\/span><\/p>\n In a recent interview on the <\/span>Inside True Crime<\/span><\/i> podcast, Jeremy revealed that he received hundreds of letters from <\/span>admirers<\/b> in the aftermath of his arrest.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cI was probably getting 300 letters a day, and it was just too much,\u201d said the 42-year-old, dubbed the \u201cworld\u2019s hottest felon,\u201d on Sunday (March 22).<\/span><\/p>\n Image credits: Gisela Schober\/Getty Images<\/a><\/p>\n Jeremy also received explicit content from supporters.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m getting n*ked pictures, I\u2019m getting money orders. All kinds of money\u2019s being sent in,\u201d he recalled.<\/span><\/p>\n People also started showing up to the Sacramento County Jail unannounced, claiming the two visitor passes he was allotted weekly.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m getting random people visiting me and I\u2019m denying them before I even walk up the stairs into the section and I\u2019m like, \u2018I don\u2019t know who that person is!\u2019\u201d Jeremy said.<\/span><\/p>\n Image credits: Matthew Cox | Inside True Crime<\/a><\/p>\n But people insisted on having a meet-and-greet with the felon. \u201cThey\u2019re like, \u2018Well, I\u2019m still taking your visit. You can deny it, but I\u2019m still going to take your visit for the week.\u2019<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cSo now my family can\u2019t come because I got f***ing random people coming to see me, and it was so frustrating.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n Some told him that they had driven from another state just to see him.<\/span><\/p>\n Image credits: Stockton, CA Police Department<\/a><\/p>\n \u201cThey\u2019re like, \u2018Well, we drove all the way from Tennessee!\u2019\u201d Jeremy explained.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201c\u2018I understand that and thank you. But my son\u2019s five years old and he doesn\u2019t understand why I\u2019m not home and he needs to see me. And so I\u2019m just going to ask that you please don\u2019t come back. Write me.\u2019\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n Jeremy shares a 15-year-old son with his ex-wife, nurse Melissa Meeks. He also shares a 7-year-old son with his ex-girlfriend, Topshop heiress Chloe Green.<\/span><\/p>\n A former member of the Crips criminal group, Jeremy was sentenced to 27 months in prison on weapon charges in 2014.<\/span><\/p>\n Image credits: Matthew Cox | Inside True Crime<\/a><\/p>\n Before the <\/span>arrest<\/span><\/a> that led to the viral mugshot, he had spent more than a decade in and out of prison for crimes including grand theft and forgery.<\/span><\/p>\n According to <\/span>TMZ<\/span><\/i>, Jeremy was charged in 2002 with robbery and corporal injury to a child. Unlike many ex-convicts, the \u201cblue-eyed bandit\u201d found himself with opportunities to travel the world and walk in fashion shows.<\/span><\/p>\n At the height of his fame, he was struggling with substance dependence issues. He revealed that, one night, he was \u201cpretty much overd*sing in [his] sleep.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n Image credits: jmeeksofficial\/Instagram<\/a><\/p>\n Jeremy said his partner at the time made a phone call that ended up saving his life.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cLuckily, she made a phone call and got some help and got a doctor in there and it was very expensive, but they got me the treatment that I needed.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n The 42-year-old shared that he experienced survivor\u2019s guilt after receiving treatment for his dependency, as he compared himself to many of his friends who couldn\u2019t afford medical care.<\/span><\/p>\n He also felt responsible for their health issues, having used his money to buy hard substances for himself and his group.<\/span> \u201cA lot of my homies and people that I knew, some of their add*ction grew just because of the resources that I had,\u201d Jeremy said.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cAnd then next thing you know, I\u2019m clean. 30 grand was dropped on my sobriety.
