Is Fortnite down?
Yes, the popular Battle Royale game officially went offline at 4 a.m. on Thursday, May 14 for a scheduled update.
Fortnite Status posted on X: “Answer the call and jump in tomorrow for the latest Zero Build changes in Battle Royale! Downtime for v40.40 begins at 4 AM ET (8 AM UTC) with matchmaking ending shortly beforehand.”
The update promises new map landmarks, new hero weapons and no lethal fall damage.
Fortnite should be ready to play again in a few hours. Updates usually last less than than two hours.

Fortnite’s Chapter 7, Season 2 Showdown began on March 19 and will run until June 6.
