Denver Broncos running back J.K. Dobbins jogged off the field into the locker room with trainers during Monday’s training camp practice. Dobbins left about midway through practice and did not return, according to reporters on site. Broncos coach Sean Payton was asked about Dobbins after practice.

“Soft tissue; I think he’s going to be fine,” Payton said. “We’re just being smart with it.”

The team stretched after Monday’s practice ended — which isn’t typical — and Payton indicated the club has to “get a handle on some of the soft tissue [injuries].”

Broncos receiver Michael Bandy also left practice early with trainers.

Elsewhere on the injury front, cornerback Pat Surtain (unknown), wide receiver Jaylen Waddle (strain), center Luke Wattenberg (undisclosed), receiver Marvin Mims (unknown), tight end Nate Adkins (undisclosed) and safety Devon Key (unknown) were among the players who worked on a side field on Monday. Payton has mentioned in recent days that the club will give out a lot of veteran rest days this summer, based on the data they collect using sports science. It’s unclear if Surtain or Key have injuries.

Denver has two more days of practice scheduled this week ahead of Friday’s preseason opener.
