Stock futures fell slightly early Monday, weighed by declines in tech following a losing week as markets remain pressured by elevated Treasury yields.

Dow Jones Industrial Average futures traded 11 points lower. S&P 500 and Nasdaq-100 futures lost 0.1% and 0.5%, respectively.

The State Street Technology Select Sector ETF (XLK) fell nearly 1% in the premarket. Coherent and Lumentum fell 5% and 4.5%, respectively, to lead the losses. Sandisk also shed 4%, while Corning and Seagate each pulled back by 3%.

The Dow last week fell 0.8%, marking its second consecutive weekly pullback. The S&P 500 and Nasdaq shed 1.4% and 2%, respectively, snapping their three-week winning streaks.

In Asia, Japan’s Nikkei 225 closed 0.74% lower, while South Korea’s Kospi dropped 3.12%. Australia’s benchmark S&P/ASX 200 rose 0.49%. Mainland China’s CSI 300 closed 1.21% lower.

Stocks have been pressured by rising bond yields around the globe. The 30-year U.S. Treasury bond yield topped 5.3% last week to reach levels not seen in nearly 20 years. Rates in Japan, France and Germany also scaled to multiyear highs.

Investors grew fearful that the U.S.-Iran war would continue for longer, keeping oil prices elevated and driving inflation higher. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent did announce measures to help stabilize the long-end of the U.S. yield curve, but that reprieve was short lived.

“I argue that the Treasury’s surprise decision to upsize tactical long-end buybacks is effectively a Treasury-led ‘Operation Twist’ designed to counter shifts in shorter term market conditions, rather than a form of QE,” wrote David Zervos, chief market strategist at Jefferies. “While buybacks do not create reserves and therefore lack QE’s direct money-printing channel, I believe they do leave room for fiscal expansion and deliver some QE-like reflationary effects.”

Investors this week will get new inflation data in the form of the July personal consumption expenditures price index on Wednesday. On top of that, the Federal Reserve will hold its annual symposium in Jackson Hole, Wyoming — where Chairman Kevin Warsh is expected to deliver a speech.

Artificial intelligence will also be in focus, with Nvidia and Marvell Technology set to report earnings Wednesday and Thursday, respectively.

Those figures will come after Bloomberg News reported over the weekend, citing sources, that Nvidia has notified clients that servers with Vera Rubin and Blackwell chips will see price hikes of more than 15%.
