Morgan Wallen concert kickstarts busy, fun weekend in Pittsburgh

Hundreds of thousands of people will be flocking to Pittsburgh this weekend. The Three Rivers Arts Festival and Pittsburgh Pride are back.The fun started for many with Morgan Wallen’s return to the Steel City on Friday night.“Out of 10, this is an 11 out of 10,” said Carissa Steele, of Ligonier. “We’re all excited.”Thousands of fans have waited months for the country music superstar’s two shows at Acrisure Stadium.”It’s the one time of year we all come together and celebrate good country music,” said Sara Argiro, of Wexford. “Lots of text messages, lots of being in the queue and trying to get tickets together.”“I got her Christmas present tickets,” said Erica Jones, who was with her daughter. “She had to get them because she missed last year.”The 2026 stop on the “I’m Still the Problem” Tour brought the Billboard Music Award-winning artist to Pittsburgh’s biggest venue.“I’m stunned that he’s back,” said Lauren Miller, of Ligonier. “I’m so excited. He’s in the big stadium. He was at Star Lake, then PNC (Park), now he’s at Acrisure.”Wallen’s shows on Friday and Saturday draw people from multiple states.”We wanted to come out here because a couple of our buddies are out here,” said Ryan Gall, who drove from New York City. “We wanted to see Morgan because he’s the best.”A lot of Wallen’s fans made their way to the North Shore any way they could.“We came in my friend’s boat,” said Michael Berretone. “We brought it right up on the water. What better place to tailgate than right on the river?”This busy weekend only started with Wallen.Three Rivers Arts Festival and Pittsburgh Pride officials say they’ve coordinated with each other and the city to make sure everyone who wants to come downtown can do so.“We do have transportation for individuals who are parking downtown,” said Pittsburgh Pride director Dena Stanley. “This is not our first rodeo. For the last few years, there have been a lot of things happening at the same time. We work with the other festivals and the city to make sure this goes off without a hitch.”This map shows the pride parade route from downtown to Allegheny Commons Park.Those with the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust said they’re ready to host the Arts Fest for the first time at Arts Landing downtown.“This is Pittsburgh’s start to the summer,” said Kendra Whitlock-Ingram, president and CEO of the Trust. “We’re going to make it a good one this year.”Officials hope all the crowds find ways to cross over to all three events.“We love all the allies that come and visit, and all of the community that comes and visits as well,” Stanley said. “We’re projecting around 300,000 people down here throughout the weekend.
