Claiming lottery in Delaware
18 states have laws that allow national lottery prize jackpot winners to remain anonymous, but is Delaware among them?
After no grand prize winner from the Saturday, Dec. 20 drawing, the Powerball jackpot for Monday, Dec. 22 now is up to $1.6 billion with a cash value of $735.3 million. It’s now the fourth-highest jackpot in the game’s history.
The drawing will be the 46th in the current jackpot run, which is a game record for the most drawings in a jackpot cycle, according to lottery officials.
It’s the second time the Powerball jackpot has reached $1 billion this year.
The last time the jackpot approached these levels happened this fall, when it reached $1.787 billion for the Sept. 6 drawing. That grand prize — the second largest in the game’s history — was won by a winning ticket purchased in Missouri and another in Texas.
The last time there were two billion-dollar jackpots was in 2023 when a $1.08 billion jackpot was won on July 19 and then a $1.76 billion jackpot on Oct. 11. Both were won by players in California.
