Gronowski came to Iowa with an impressive resume, having won two FCS national championships at South Dakota State. After making the jump to the Big Ten, Gronowski was able to provide something that the Hawkeye faithful were starving for: Quality quarterback play.
Gronowski’s passing numbers were not especially notable. He finished the season completing 63.4% of his passes and threw just 10 touchdowns to seven interceptions. But Gronowski did damage with his legs, rushing for a team-high 16 touchdowns.
Gronowski’s intangibles are an important part of what he brings to the table. His grit and perseverance were apparent during the season as he played through a knee injury. Gronowski’s game is not flashy, but he orchestrated victory, leading the Hawkeyes to a 9-4 record against a challenging schedule. Even in such a short time in the program, Gronowski established himself as a respected leader.

Despite his accomplishments at the college level, Gronowski was not invited to the 2026 NFL Combine.
Great experience at both FCS and FBS level with South Dakota State and Iowa
Good size, sturdy build for the position
Plays with good timing and rhythm; quick decision maker with the football
Smooth, efficient ball-handling skills; sells play-action fakes and RPOs well
Tough-as-nails quarterback who brings steady leadership
Nice pop on short-to-intermediate throws
Good mechanics ensure that he has sound base underneath him on the move to make accurate throws; will drive balls well outside the numbers
Weaknesses
Arm strength tends to wane on throws down the field; ball will flutter and die
Struggled with accuracy at Iowa; scattershot at times on quick throws and didn’t driving balls well off play-action, leaving throws short
Tends to stare down receivers, particularly to the perimeter
Unwavering belief in his arm and ability to fit passes into tight windows can cost him on throws outside the numbers
Most of big-play strikes downfield at Iowa came due to busted coverages
Older prospect at the quarterback position
Not an overly dynamic runner; more of a plodder with some power between the tackles
