Wemby concussion changes Spurs series
Analyzing how Victor Wembanyama’s concussion changes the Spurs-Trail Blazers playoff series.
San Antonio Spurs sensation Victor Wembanyama took a knock on the head in Game 2 and suddenly what was supposed to be an easy series against the Portland Trail Blazers is tied 1-1.
Wembanyama is now in concussion protocol and will be a game-time decision for Game 3. As of 7 p.m. MT/8 p.m. CT that was his status.
That adds up to the Spurs being the slimmest of favorites as they try to take a road game at Portland.
Game 3 of the Trail Blazers at Spurs series will be televised nationally on Amazon Prime Video at 8:30 p.m. MDT/9:30 p.m. CDT Friday, April 24.
The Portland Trail Blazers at San Antonio Spurs Game 2 is scheduled to begin at 8:30 p.m. MDT/9:30 p.m. CDT Friday, April 24.
Victor Wembanyama is in concussion protocol but he traveled and is with the team for Game 3. He will be a game-time decision. He is questionable beyond that.
Per Spurs coach Mitch Johnson: “He looks good”, noting that the Spurs hadn’t started discussions on when Wembanyama can play again.
The best-of-7 series is tied 1-1.
The Spurs finished the regular season 62-20, the second seed in the Western Conference.
The Trail Blazers are healthy.
The Portland Trail Blazers finished the regular season 42-40.

Peter Dewey writes: “The Los Angeles Lakers took a 2-0 series lead over the Houston Rockets on Tuesday night — even with Kevin Durant back in the lineup — sending their odds flying up the board to win the NBA Finals. Los Angeles was a massive underdog to win this first-round series, but it is now a -135 favorite at DraftKings as things shift back to Houston for Game 3.”
