But how much playing time will players get with him?

‘Resident Evil’s’ Last Game with Leon Kennedy

It has been a long time since Leon Kennedy last appeared in a mainline “Resident Evil” game.

This specific game is “Resident Evil 6,” and it was first released in October 2012 on the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC gaming platforms.

This specific title featured Leon Kennedy as a federal agent for the DSO, tasked with protecting the US President Adam Benford, who was later infected with the virus and killed by Leon. This game also allowed players to switch between Chris Redfield, Jake Mueller, and Ada Wong.

The previous titles also featuring Leon as the lead include “Resident Evil 2” and “Resident Evil 4.”

Come 2026, it will be 14 years since Leon Kennedy appeared as a lead character for a “Resident Evil” game. Because of his immense popularity, many wanted him to take the helm for the next mainline title from Capcom.

“Requiem” director Akifumi Nakanishi recently revealed via an interview with Automaton that Leon will play a massive role in the game.

How much? Well, Nakanishi revealed that players will get to step into Leon’s shoes for half of the game.

The other half of the game will feature Grace Ashcroft, the new character that Capcom introduced and has set up to be the face of “Requiem.”

How Will Leon’s Role Play Out With Grace?

According to Nakanishi, Leon’s role will have players enjoying the action part of the game, where players get to fight against the infected. On the other hand, players will still get to experience the survival-horror promise of the upcoming game, but this time, via Grace’s perspective.

In “Requiem,” fans will get to see the best of both worlds of the franchise, with both Leon and Grace serving their purpose to set the tone for players.

Previous rumors already speculated the return of Leon, but on many occasions, Capcom and its developers have downplayed his role.
