LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) – Storms appeared to linger over Laredo, with frequent lightning and brief power interruptions reported in some neighborhoods. AEP Texas earlier showed about 1,000 customers without power, though outages appeared limited compared to what can happen with storms of this strength.

Meteorologist Richard “Heatwave” Berler said small hail may also be possible.

The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning in effect until 12:15 a.m.

Laredo police reported two traffic trouble spots late tonight:

  • Ejido Avenue at Potomac Drive: Closed due to flooding. Drivers are asked to avoid the area and use an alternate route.
  • Wooster Street at U.S. Highway 83: Southbound lanes are shut down following a crash. Officers are on scene directing traffic, and significant delays are expected.

Drivers are urged to avoid both areas as conditions change. This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
